Motorsport: Motorcycle Racing
Photography of Motorcycle Racing at Croft Circuit
I had the pleasure of photographing a great North East Motorsport event on the 6th and 7th of April when Riders from The North East Motorcycle Racing Club took to the track for their first motorcycle race meeting of 2013 at Croft Circuit Darlington.
You can view all our Event Photographs from the NEMCRC Croft race meeting in our galleries here Motorcycle Racing Photographs.
I hope you enjoy browsing through the photographs and as always you are welcome to purchase prints and downloads directly from the website at reasonable prices.
Turning up for Saturday mornings practice session in the glorious sunshine and looking forward to a weekend of great close racing and good weather it was hard to believe that only a couple of weeks or even days earlier they might have needed snow ploughs fitting to the front forks. As a volunteer for this particular Motorcycle Racing club I was aware that for this first race meeting of the season the club had been offered the weekend before Easter, or this date in April – Good Choice!
On a personal note I have enjoyed Motorsport at Croft since the mid 70’s when my uncle used to take me through to enjoy some fantastic racing. Club racing can be every bit as exciting and often closer than any top level races you see on TV and I don’t understand why at only £12 a ticket for a FULL afternoons racing they no longer get the huge crowds at Croft that I used to see.
Full grids for almost every race at Croft gives us plenty to watch and photograph with some great close racing filling the frame there is lots of action to shoot.
The NEMCRC provide something for everyone at their club race meetings. You can spend hours even days enjoying everything from classics to pre injection motorcycles and twins to sidecars. Of course the usual 600cc and unlimited classes of the fastest modern machines are out there giving it everything but did you really expect to see Scooter Racing at a motorcycle race meeting?
The Scooter Racing was fun and every bit as furious as the larger machines and while these little bikes might not look as quick you should check out the Lap times I think you would be surprised. This is the second year the NEMCRC have invited the Scooter Club to race at their meeting and when you look at the entries, entertainment and cash they bring to the event lets hope it continues for many years. OK so they are not cutting edge ZX10’s or GSXR’s but they are competitive, fun and bring a lot of added value to the weekends events.
I just love being trackside with or without camera this weekend I photographed every single race over both days and hope both spectators and riders enjoy the resulting photographs in our galleries.
